About AHS
Acton High School is now in its new premises, a state of the art building with multi-purpose rooms incorporating technically advanced resources. We are designated as a specialist centre for Media Arts, an Extended School and a Creative Partnerships School. All this reflects our commitment to making learning vibrant, energetic and motivating. We offer our students an education that will equip them for life in the 21st century.
Our academic record clearly indicates the progress that our students make across a range of abilities. Able students do very well in the school and obtain some exceptional GCSE results.
Our careers and guidance programme is a real strength within the personal and social education curriculum, and gives our students an excellent foundation for making informed choices post 16.
An excellent pastoral care system supports the academic, social and moral development of students, promoting high expectations of behaviour and a sense of achievement.
In September, 2006, OfSTED found:
- The outstanding curriculum is effective in meeting the different needs of students and is responsive to local community needs.
- The school provides excellent opportunities and support for students of all abilities, including a very good programme for gifted and talented students.
- The school is successful in raising students' aspirations and progression rates to further education, training or employment are high.
- Teachers have good subject knowledge and positive relationships encourage students to contribute well in lessons.
- Teachers plan lessons well and use a variety of good resources .... to support students' learning. Students are expected to work hard and think for themselves.
- Students show respect for others and the school community is harmonious and inclusive.
