Key Stage 3 ICT

All pupils in years 7-9 have one hour of core ICT per week. However, with four networked ICT rooms they have had the opportunity to use ICT in other subjects such as Maths, English, French and Science.
The school recognises the importance of delivering ICT across the curriculum and is working towards delivering ICT in every subject.

In Year 7 pupils use PowerPoint to create a presentation on themselves, Publisher to create leaflets and posters, Excel to create spreadsheets and Access to produce databases.
In Year 8 pupils design web pages and they learn how to use the internet as a research tool. In Year 9 pupils learn how to design an ICT system using all the software packages.

GCSE ICT


Pupils study the OCR GCSE ICT syllabus. The Course is divided into 40% theory and 60 % practical. They learn how to use software such as word processors, databases, spreadsheets etc. They learn how to apply ICT to real life situations, the positive and negative effect of ICT and how ICT can be used to research, manipulate and present information.

GCSE Applied ICT (Double Award)

This course has been designed to introduce students to work-related learning and equip them with the skills they will need in the workplace or in further education and training. It differs from traditional GCSEs in that it is more focused on the use of ICT in a business context. Student s who follow this course will receive two GCSE's.
