Acton High - a specialist centre for Media Arts
Acton High School is a specialist centre for Media Arts. We choose to construe our specialism widely and imaginatively, interpreting our core objective as promoting positive and enhanced communication within specific cultural contexts.
Knowing that communication is enabled by both traditional and emerging literacies and takes place within countless milieux, we want to support our students in becoming as accomplished as possible in expressing themselves and in appreciating the expression of others, whether that be through reading and writing, speaking and listening, drama, drawing, painting, photography, the moving image, graphic and textile design or any other mode of cultural production.
We believe in the power of ideas - in science, in technology, in mathematics, in literature, in art, indeed, in all disciplines of human thought - and our resources and energies are targeted at encouraging our students to have something to say; at helping them develop the language necessary to saying it; and at instructing them in the mastery of the technical means by which their message might be most sympathetically communicated to others.
