Home About Us Extended School

Extended School

We provide a safe environment for students from 7.45 am to 6 pm during term time. We offer a range of clubs to cater for the needs and interests of our students. Follow this link to see our current Ace of Clubs programme. Breakfast Club starts at 7.45 in the school canteen. As a Healthy School, we know that starting the day with a good breakfast helps children learn so, to encourage students to come, the first 30 breakfasts are FREE! At the end of each day, students can go to Study Support Clubs in our Library and ICT rooms. Here they have quiet, supervised space and IT facilities so that they can continue with independent study and homework.

Attendance at clubs earns points, and every 10 points entitles students to a ticket in the prize draw at the end of each term. Prizes include bikes, IPods and vouchers. The more often students attend clubs, the more points they collect and the more chances they have of winning a prize!

In line with our specialist Media Arts status, we work with our local community on arts and media projects, as well as on issues of common concern and interest. Our partners include Acton Community Forum, Acton Arts Forum, The London Transport Museum, APPLE Arts, Windrush Consortium, Jack Morton Worldwide, Well London and Groundwork. See links to projects below.

The parents of our students are our partners. We offer information sessions, formal and informal opportunities to meet, and support and advice when needed. Evening courses include ESOL and ICT. Our Parenting Support course – Family Links – runs on a regular basis. Details of our Adult education programme can be found here.

We have good relationships with a huge range of agencies and specialists. We use them a resource for our students and their families on an individual basis as needs are identified. Parents wanting additional support for their children should speak to the form tutor in the first instance.

We provide some weekend and holiday courses at school and information on other provision in the borough during the holidays. Information will be posted on the website as it becomes available. Follow the link to Acton Extended Schools to see what else is happening in Acton.
