KS4 Languages
Some students continue their study of a language in the Upper School. In addition students can be entered for a GCSE in a community language of which they already have a working knowledge.
At present, students can take a full course GCSE in French, German or Spanish. However, in addition to Community Languages, as of next year only French and Spanish will be offered as GCSE language subjects.
Students will develop their skills and be assessed in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing and they will be able to continue with a foreign language after they leave school by progressing to the next level of language qualifications either at work or in further education.
Language skills are useful for employment, in travel, transport, imports and exports, leisure services, hotels, restaurants, banking, advertising, journalism, teaching, industry and commerce. To aid their learning, the MFL department has taken part in a number of language based activities including trips, pupil exchange and pen pal links. We are hoping to continue to build on the success of our extra- curricular activities as it is surely making a difference to the overall learning experience of all language learners at Acton High.
