Year 10, Wire Mas Workshops with Carl Gabriel
Carl Gabriel is a world renowned local artist who specialises in large, intricate wire sculptures. He has done a lot of work for the Notting Hill Carnival as well as commissions for various clients around Europe and the World (including Acton High). Everybody who sees his work is amazed by the scale and complexity of his creations.
In the Autumn Term Carl came to Acton High School for two full day workshops. He introduced year 10 pupils to techniques of wire sculpture as well as how to gather ideas and work from a concept drawing. These workshops were integrated into a scheme of work that applied these skills to the pupil's own designs.
