The finals of the Blastbeat 2010 program took place at the O2 Arena yesterday as part of the Transformation Trust's 1st Birthday Party. Eight of our Year 11 students were involved in the competition with 65 other London schools all competing to be the best Social Enterprise Multimedia Company. Priscilla, Charlie, Siphosethu, Robert, Clark, Tanisha, Yousef and Deanna had to set up a stall in the main entrance of the O2 Arena promoting their company for the final round of judging worth 25% of the marks.
Harmony Beatz, Acton High School's company won the first prize of £3000 and two students received individual awards for their efforts. Deanna won a Charity Manager prize for her work with the charity Fearless (www.fearless.org), whilst Yousef won an Art & Design award for his design and branding for the Harmony Beatz company.

Their success is due to the help and support that a range of people throughout the school gave them and they would like to say a big thank you to the following:
- Ms Edwards, Mr Amaning, Mr Halsey, Ms Straughn, Mr Cyrus and Mr Clark for providing security at their Battle of the Bands gig and helping to ensure a safe environment.
- Mr Hughes and the Music Department for the loan of laptops for their display.
- Ms Sooknanan for loan of a laptop for ticket sales and promotion.
- Mr Fullwood and Ms Lok for loan of art materials for creating their display.
- Ms Beaumont for support with their Business Finance.
- Mr Bharadwa for providing technical support on the night of their event.
- School Office staff for use of the telephones and everybody else who supported their event.
