Visit By The Japanese School
On Thursday 19th of January 2012, Acton High School enjoyed our annual visit from the Japanese International School based in Creffield Road, West Acton. These exchange visits have taken place for over twenty years and are a highlight of the year for our year eight students who host them. This time we welcomed thirty two students and four teachers including Head Teacher Mr Tomomura and long standing staff member Ms Ota.
Each Japanese student was given a partner from Acton High and spent the day with them, going to all their lessons and having lunch in the school canteen. This is a new experience for most of them as the Japanese school has no catering facilities! The day included lessons in ICT, French, PE and Cookery, where the students learned to cook chapattis. The Japanese teachers visited their students in lessons and saw our current Ann Frank Exhibition in the school foyer.
At the end of the day everyone gathered in the school hall for a group photograph and to say goodbye until July when Acton High students will pay our return visit.
