University of Cambridge Challenge Day
Nine students from Year 10 were fortunate enough to experience a Challenge Day at the University of Cambridge on Monday 30th January 2012. Students were given a series of challenges related to lateral thinking and general knowledge which had to be completed by the end of the day which they could work on collaboratively or as individuals. Our students chose to work as a team and won the challenge with the highest score of all the schools present.
In addition to the challenges, students were given a tour of Emmanuel College, had lunch in the library, met with current undergraduates and experienced two lectures one on English Literature and the other on Medicine by eminent academics from the university. The lecturers were keen to make the sessions interactive and Acton High students were a credit to our school with their keen interest and involvement.
The day gave the students an inspirational and exciting flavour of what life at Cambridge University would be like.
