Spanish Exchange
On the 4th of April 2011, 27 pupils and 5 staff were involved in a Spanish exchange with our host school in Madrid Juan de Mairena. Miss Douglas, Miss Khadra, Mrs Greene and Mr Clark are the staff who were involved in the visit. Pupils stayed with their host families for 10 days and had to attend school during the mornings with their Spanish partners.

Middlesex Cup Final
Acton High School has had a fantastic year in football. Our Under 14 boys and Under 16 girls have achieved great success. They have both become Middlesex schools’ football champions, giving Acton High an unprecedented double for this season!!
Having watched the under 14 boys put their demons to rest, finally securing the Middlesex trophy with a well earned 2-0 victory over Douay Martyrs School a month ago, the under 16 girls have now done the same with a well earned 4-1 victory over Cardinal Wiseman on Monday 16 th May.

Ealing Borough Athletics
Acton High School students achieved unbelievable success at this years borough athletics.
There were four school records broken and our Junior boys’ team won the overall competition and therefore Acton High are Junior Boys Ealing Borough Athletics Champions 2011.

Acton High School under 14 boys put their demons to rest and finally secured the Middlesex schools trophy with a well earned 2-0 victory over the Douay Martyrs School in the Middlesex cup final.

Interview with Caroline O'Connor
We were privileged to meet with Caroline O'Connor, an ex-AHS student and Olympian. Caroline attended Acton High School many years ago - her Head of Year at the time was M. Straughn, who also taught her science.

Mock Interviews
Ealing and Hillingdon Education Business Partnership and Acton High School worked in partnership to organise a day of ‘Mock Interviews’ to give our Year 10 students an opportunity to experience an interview situation. In preparation for their interview, students had to complete an application form and were given useful interview tips and techniques such as: dress code, tone of voice and appropriate responses etc. Students were matched with a current employer working in an industry relevant to their own hobbies and career interest.

Generations Together – Caribbean Cooking
The course involved a six week programme with two groups of Year 8 and 9 students of African and Caribbean heritage. The students were involved in the preparation and cooking of various Caribbean dishes from Curry Chicken, Rice and Peas, Homemade Coleslaw, Fried dumplings, Brown Stew Chicken and Escovitch Fish.

BBC School Report
Sixteen Year 8 students from Acton High School took part in BBC School Report 2011, a nationwide project in which young people learn how write, edit and broadcast the news.
The students worked on stories including children with shotgun licences, a new survey of young people’s views and an Olympic hopeful right here at Acton High.

Acton's Got Talent
Our Student Leaders were keen that we mark this year's Comic Relief fundraising with an event that was fun and vibrant. What better than "Acton's Got Talent?"
9 acts took part in the final show on Thursday 16th March 2011 and the students who competed came from year 7 right up to year 11!

Olympic Adventure
On the 9th March 2011, Ealing and Hillingdon Education Business Partnership and Acton High School teamed up for the year 8 students to host an Olympic Adventure. They were treated by a visit from a current Olympian British sprinter Laura Turner, who represented Great Britain at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, in the 4 x 100m relay and the 100m.

Post 16 Careers Fair 2011
Acton High School hosted their first Post 16 Educational Fair on Tuesday 15th March 2011. The fair is a vital tool which enables the students to speak with post 16 providers, who have the experience and knowledge to advise our students about their future after leaving Acton High School in a couple of months.

The London Youth Games 2011
The London Youth Games 2011 season covers 26 competition days through to finals weekend at the National Sports Centre, Crystal Palace on July 2/3. Why don't you go along to one of the trials and see if you are good enough to represent your Borough at your chosen sport?! See the video below for more inspiration!!

Acton High into the Middlesex Cup Final
The Year 9 football team have reached the final of the Middlesex Cup for the second year in succession where they will play The Douay Martyrs School with a hard fought 2-1 win over Bishop Stopford School in Enfield.

London Youth Games
Acton High School has two students who represented the Ealing Borough Girls’ Inter-Cricket Team, who were a part of the London Youth Games; they are now fortunate enough to be playing at Lord’s Cricket Stadium later this summer.

Heathrow Fair
Year 11 students recently had the opportunity to attend an apprenticeship fair; this was well attended and all found the experience useful. The fair covered a wide range of career options, from engineering to hospitality careers.

Community Mapping
A group of students who excelled in Humanities were chosen to take part in a project based on community mapping. The students have been working in the CLC (Community Learning Centre) contributing to an opinionated map. It is an online map that has been specially made for students to upload comments and views on it.

Ealing Borough High Schools – Rugby Union Competition
2010-11 saw the emergence of the Ealing Borough High Schools Rugby Union Competition.
The competition was organised in collaboration between Featherstone School Sports Partnership, the RFU and Ealing Trailfinders RFC. In total 8 Ealing schools entered, with Acton High forming part of the ‘B’ League with Brentside, West London Academy and Villiers.
