Safer Internet Day is organised each year in February to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.

The Apprentice with Year 10 BTEC Business Students
Saira Khan, entrepreneur and star of BBC1's "The Apprentice" and CBBC's "Beat the Boss" visited Acton High School on Thursday 27th January to talk with Year 10 BTEC Business Studies students and a group of Year 11 students.

Japanese School Visit
On Thursday 13th January 2011, Acton High School was visited by staff and students from the Japanese School; there were 4 members of staff and 35 students.

London Transport Depot Museum Trip
A selected group of year 8 and 9 students were taken to the London Transport Depot Museum as part of a project in conjunction with the London Engineering Project, designed to raise awareness and interest about engineering as a profession.

Maths Trip to Imperial College London
On 9th December 2010 a group of Maths gifted and talented students from Year 10 had the opportunity to visit Imperial College London, a prestigious university specialising in Maths, Science, Engineering, Medicine and Business. Imperial was placed 5th overall in the world in the 2009 Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings of universities worldwide.

The Jack Petchey Foundation
The Jack Petchey Foundation came into Acton High School to work with Year 10 Gifted and Talented students as part of the ‘Speak Out Competition’.
Students were given a day of training in speech and voicing opinions; rounding off with a competition at the end of the day.

Cultural Showcase 2010
This year’s Cultural Showcase which was held on 2nd December 2010: Hip Hop, Don’t Stop was a play which looked at the musical, social and political influences on Hip Hop music. This performance was in celebration of Black History Month.

Family Fun Workshops
Acton High School has been holding family fun workshops throughout November, where parents have been coming along with their children to build on their learning.

Show Racism the Red Card
As part of the Black History Month programme QPR coaches came to Acton High and delivered a ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ workshop to a group of 40 Year 7 students.
The event aims to combat racism by using fun and educational resources to relay the message to young people.

Hip-Hop, Don't Stop!
For October’s Flexi-day keeping in-line the theme of Black History Month, a group of Year 9 Gifted and Talented students produced the backdrop for the Cultural Showcase which is due to take place on Thursday 2th December 2010.

The Wings of Hope
The Wings of Hope is an organisation that provides free education to poor and orphaned children in developing countries.
On the 8th October 2010, guest speakers from the WOH came into our assembly to talk about their annual fundraising challenge and achievement award for secondary school students.

Naomi MacDonald from the Musicians Union visited the school to talk to the BTEC candidates in year 10 and 11 about working in the music industry.

Junior Leadership Team 2010
We would you like to congratulate the students who went through an exhausting process to get their peers and staff to nominate them which was followed by a gruelling interview with the Head and deputy head teacher.
The Junior Leadership Team is proving to be an important and influential body that is involved in peer mentoring programs, fund raising for the prom and charities, and a key factor in the student’s voice.
