TfL Inspire Engineering Project
On Wednesday 31st March 2010 , 15 Year 9’s and Year 8’s took part in the London Engineering Project held at the London Transport Depot Museum.
The aim of the event was to generate interest and awareness of professions within Transport For London amongst Key Stage 3 students by using engineers and planners as role models and providing a range of engaging activities.

BBC News School Report
Sixteen Year 8 students from Acton High have taken part in BBC News School Report, where hundreds of schools across the country produce news bulletins to publish online.
The Newsday on Thursday 11th March 2010 saw students find, write, edit, order and broadcast their news reports in Ealing CLC's TV studio. Our students produced reports on issues such as university places, the Oscars and railway safety as well as reporting the breaking news on the day. Wex Factor
On Wednesday 10th March 2010 Acton High School had an interactive production by the Rah Rah Theatre who come in and hosted a game show called the Wex Factor. Wex Factor is a Theatre in Education show which prepares pupils for their Work Experience
The actors were very animated and energetic which excited the Year 10 students. They were split into two teams. Students had to play against each other on the buzzer to answer work experience based questions.

Spotlight
The HIGHLIGHTS film from November’s SPOTLIGHT Performing Arts Festival is now available for viewing. Click here
This community event was hosted by Acton High School. Acts came from all over Acton, and performers ranged in age from 3 years to over eighty. Acton students took part in several of the performances.
The event is run by Acton Community Forum (ACF). This year, Jack Morton Worldwide (JMW), a brand experience agency based locally, worked with ACF and our school to make the show polished, professional and really exciting.

Year 9 – Macbeth at the Globe
As part of the Globe Education Flagship Project for London Schools one student from each school was selected to join the Playing Shakespeare Youth Panel. Well done to Liam Oktay, 9H, who was chosen to work behind the scenes in the theatre on a production of Macbeth especially created for young people. As part of the youth panel Liam worked alongside the Globe Education Team and fed his ideas into the project whilst undertaking a variety of tasks relating to the production and performance.

Year 7 Flexiday - Demonstrate Industrial Processes
On Wednesday 3rd March 2010 four design graduates were invited to Acton High School to give a talk about their work they had done and to demonstrate industrial processes on a classroom desktop.
Year 7 students turned milk bottles to frizbees and cranked up rotational molding machines to create products from bioresin.

Home Access - Free Computer & Internet Access For Eligible Families
The Government recognise the benefits to students and their families of having access to ICT in the home to support learning. Research suggests access to technology in the home can lead to improved GCSE grades, with a student previously attaining a D grade being able to achieve a B grade with effective use of technology.
They have therefore provided funds to help parents buy a computer and Internet access for the home, in a scheme called HOME ACCESS.

Year 10 Science Flexiday
On Wednesday 3rd March all of Year 10 spent the day carrying out experiments, revising and doing an element of their Science GCSE exam.
The afternoon was spent in preparing for the multiple choice Chemistry and Biology papers that all of Year 10 will sit on 5th March 2010.

German Students Extend Knowledge of the Language and Culture
On Wednesday the 13th of January 23 students and 3 teachers set off for Germany. The trip lasted for three days. We travelled by coach and then by ferry.

Year 9 Options Presentation
Acton High School was one of two schools in the borough of Ealing chosen to take part in an "Opt to Learning" Presentation from Impact Universal.
Actors delivered a lively and dramatic performance, revealing how students most like to learn, why choosing the right options for them is so important and how to make the most of their learning.
